Half term

Hello boys and girls.

I hope you are having a fantastic week off :)

I can't wait to hear all about what you have been up to.

I hope you have been practising your spelling and reading wheels and reading lots of books. We love reading in Dosbarth Gwyrdd. I look forward to you telling me about the books you've read this week.

I hope you have enjoyed doing your spelling scrap books and learning logs. I am sure your purple mash tasks are looking fantastic and your maths is super duper in your number journals.

Enjoy the rest of your time off.

Reading and spelling wheels

Hello Dosbarth Gwyrdd.

I am very impressed with your reading and spelling.

Can you please make sure you practise these wheels as much as you can, especially over the half term.

We love to read in Dosbarth Gwyrdd. See how much you can do at home and tell me all about the stories you have read when we return back in school.

Have a fantastic half term boys and girls.

Miss Griffiths :)

Home tasks

Your home tasks for the half term:

Number journals - doubling and halving.
Learning Logs- bonfire night.
Purple mash- autumn pictures with a sentence.

I cannot wait to see them all.

Scientists

Today we have been super scientists. We have been carrying out a fair test to find out which material is the best for Jack's coat. It had to be waterproof so he did not get wet climbing the beanstalk.

Number Journal and Learning Logs

Number Journal tasks are due in the first day back at school after half term.

I can't wait to see your fantastic maths skills!!

:)

Learning logs will be sent home this week and the task for the holiday will be bonfire night. This is also due back the first day back at school after half term.

Myself and Miss Williams cannot wait to see what you come up with.

Miss Griffiths and Miss WIlliams :)

Purple Mash

Hello Dosbarth Gwyrdd.

Here is your first purple mash task:

1. Click on purple mash on the homepage
2. Login username: year 2 Password: year 2
3. Choose autumn
4. Choose autum under paint projects
5. Carry out the task (create an autumn picture and write a sentence using adjectives to go with it)
6. Click save and save in Dosbarth Gwyrdd. Save in the autumn pictures file using your own name.

Well done!!! You have completed your first task. I cannot wait to see them. This is not due in until 4.11.13. I look forward to looking at them over the holidays.

Children are not expected to print their work. That will be done in school. If they would like to that is fine, but we will print them for you :)

For those who do not have access to this you could create an autumn collage and write a sentence to go with it.

Jack and the Beanstalk

We have been extremely lucky this morning. Mr Humphreys has been doing work on Jack and the Beanstalk with us. We have been doing role play, some of us have been mum and others Jack. We have written in the first person about what happened when Jack woke up. We imagined we were Jack in the story.

Literacy

Today we received a letter from Jack. He told us that he has a problem that needs solving. He needs to find a way to get the giant back up the beanstalk and would like Dosbarth Gwyrdd to help him come up with a solution. What are your ideas boys and girls?

We have been learning about how a letter is set out and have been re building mixed up letters so that they make sense. To do this we have used the iPads.

Some of us have also been making our own envelopes.

We have had such fun today!

Maths Workshop

Hello Everyone,

The big bad pig

Yesterday, the big bad pig tipped rubbish all over our playground. We had fun helping the three little wolves to sort out the materials.

Our autumn walk

We had lots of fun today on our autumn walk. We used our senses to look for signs of autumn. We made leaf crowns and created pictures from natural materials. We made Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf from leaves, twigs, acorns and other autumn pieces we found.

Getting our crowns ready.
